Interior: Eddie Allen Stadium |
The new one-of-a-kind floating stadium, which meets all current and projected
MSHSAA standards, will have a state-of-the-art transparent acrylic "marquee" style retractable roof measuring 914,940 square
feet in area, resting on a steel net supported by masts. When the roof is closed the entire stadium is air-conditioned, even
the seating bowl. With the roof open, everything is still cooled, with positive pressure in the concourses keeping the humidity
out. Such a roof will facilitate playing football in inclement weather during extended play-off seasons. The natural playing
field will consist of Manila Zoysia grass which forms a dense sod and produces a fine to medium textured blade that is favored
for indoor football facilities. The grass will be irrigated by a supply from our own Eddie Allen Reservoir that goes into
two 10,000-gallon surge tanks. The 80,311 capacity octagonal floating stadium will be 660 feet wide and 790 feet long. The
ten acre retractable roof will be 202 feet high and will be supported in part by compressed air donated by Princeton High
School's own VO-AG department.

Superintendent's private box at Eddie Allen Stadium |
A special closed-door session of the Princeton R-V School Board approved
the blueprints and design of the Eddie Allen Stadium, which was done entirely by the Princeton R-V A+ Program coordinator
Angie Ormsby under the direction of Superintendent Alan Hamilton using Chief Architect software obtained free with A+ funding,
saving the school district and taxpayers $82.99 plus postage and shipping. The contract to construct the facility was awarded
to Yoder & Yoder Associates of rural Princeton on the recommendation of Superintendent Allan Hamilton. Yoder & Yoder
associates submitted the lowest bid of $91,245,987.89 along with perpetual sole rights to sell baskets, strawberries and baked
goods outside the facility during games and along each side of College Avenue, Coleman Street, Ballew Street, Main Street
and Harmonica Road which collectively serve as the parking area for the new stadium.
Editor's note: Due to an oversight in the building plans, it was discovered
that no girls' locker rooms were evident in the original plan. After several calls from parents, another special closed-door
session of the Princeton R-V School Board was convened by Superintendent Alan Hamilton and the situation was remedied. There
will now be girls' locker rooms on the lowest level of the building. The girls' locker rooms will replace the girls' restrooms
originally called for at that location. It was determined that due to budget shortfalls, it would be more prudent for the
girls, who play many fewer games than the boys, to simply use the public restrooms that will be located in the mezzanine.
